Isis River Farmhouse wedding - Katie and Laurence

A beautiful early autumn wedding at the Isis River Farmhouse in Oxford

Oxfordshire wedding photography

I have photographed a few weddings at the Isis River Farmhouse over the last couple of years, but never before in the smaller barn area of the venue. I loved the cute little green barn, and I think it makes a gorgeous backdrop for a more intimate, rustic, vintage inspired wedding. I met Katie and her friends, plus their beautiful rescue dog Freddie, at the Mercure Hawkwell House in Iffley, where they were getting ready for a few photos before the ceremony.

As the Isis Farmhouse is so close, I could just walk across the bridge to the venue, where Laurence was waiting and greeting their wedding guests. It was mid-September and a bit overcast but a lovely warm day and they had decorated the adjacent marquee in gorgeous seasonal sunflowers.

Katie and Laurence had planned a very relaxed day of celebration with their families and closest friends, enjoying good food and drink and laughs together, and that’s exactly what we had. The outdoor ceremony had such a lovely intimate feel, surrounded by lush greenery on all sides. After the ceremony we did group photos and drinks on the front lawn - I find the light and colours are especially beautiful here in the afternoon. We also went for a little walk for Katie and Laurence’s couple photos along the towpath and the beautiful old bridge.

Dinner and speeches in the marquee were super relaxed and happy, and I loved that their dog Freddy was napping peacefully by their feet, with everything going on around him.

The Barn is definitely a great choice if you have a smaller guest list. It also comes with a private bar in the pub building attached to the marquee, which also has a stage if you want to have a band, like Katie and Laurence did.
