HOW I TELL YOUR STORY

Out of all the things involved in planning a wedding, picking the right photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. So I’m excited that you are considering me!

I’ve been a full-time wedding photographer for the last four years, so weddings are what I know, love and do best. My work is all about telling the story of your day, and creating a set of beautiful and carefully edited images that are unique and meaningful to you. My clients usually want to spend as much time as possible with their guests, and I take a documentary approach for much of the day, observing and capturing all that’s going on.

You’ll probably also want a few group photos taken, and I’ll make sure we get these done efficiently. You’ll definitely want those gorgeous portraits you have seen on my website of you and your partner, and I will have scouted out the best locations for these already, so we can just go, get creative with our surroundings and create something really beautiful for as much or as little time as you like.

Frequently asked questions

WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

My style of photography is natural, warm, honest and creative. It's all about telling the story of your wedding day, including all the special and little moments, plus the beautiful details you have chosen so carefully. I take a documentary approach for much of the day, observing and capturing all that’s going on to create a unique visual story for you in carefully edited high quality photographs. Most of my clients also want a few family photos, and I’ll make sure we get these done efficiently without the fuss. At some point we’ll definitely want to take some of those gorgeous couple photos of the two of you, and I will have scouted out the best spots for these already. During this time I’ll give you a little more direction, but it’s all very relaxed and usually fun!

HOW DO YOU WORK?

I'm a full time wedding photographer and will have lots of time for you. You are always welcome to get in touch with any wedding questions, photography related or not. For me preparation is everything, and I prepare meticulously for every wedding I shoot. I visit your venue and locations beforehand and work with your wedding coordinator on the day to make sure I know exactly what’s happening when. I’ll have made plans for where we’ll take your bridal photos and have a plan B (and C!) up my sleeve if it rains or something else unexpected happens. Crucially, it's your day, and I want to know what's most important to you, so I can capture it in a way that's personal and meaningful to you. I really want you to enjoy your wedding day, including having your photos taken, and communication is hugely important to me. We’ll go through all the details before your wedding day, make sure all the timings work, and that you are happy with everything we are doing.

WHAT DOES YOUR PERFECT WEDDING LOOK LIKE?

My favourite weddings to photograph are those that are filled with love, laughter and warmth, and have a relaxed laid back vibe. I love working with couples who have a bit of a sense of adventure and aren't too worried about tramping across a field or getting their feet wet by the beach (all within reason of course!). I'm a big fan of beautiful details, fairy lights, rustic wood, confetti, earthy colours, gorgeous scenery, as well as quirky urban locations. I love variety so there's not one perfect one for me, but the above is a good list of ingredients.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

Absolutely. I love being on the move and am available anywhere across New Zealand.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I use professional Canon and Sony equipment and have a wide selection of lenses, so can capture a range of different focal lengths, no matter how small or large your venue is. I also carry lighting for darker venues, as well as backup equipment, so there's no need to worry about any technical failures on the day.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET?

I don't cap the number of photos you receive, and the final number depends on your wedding, how many guests you have, and the format of your day. Usually, you can expect to receive between 500-700 photos for full day coverage, and 200 -500 for shorter packages.

HOW SOON WILL I GET MY PHOTOS?

You'll receive a sneak peek preview within 48 hours of your wedding, which includes around 15-20 photos, so you'll have a few to get you started. I edit all your photos individually, and this take a little bit of time to make sure they are perfect. You'll receive all your photos within 6 weeks, and often much quicker than that, especially during low season.

SHOULD I BOOK ONE OR TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS FOR MY WEDDING?

It's entirely up to you. I usually recommend getting a second photographer if you'd like photos of the boys getting ready, as well as the bride, or if  you have more than 100 guests and are keen to get lots of candid shots of your guests. You will receive more photographs if you book 2 photographers and we are able to capture more angles, which is particularly helpful during the ceremony.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes, I have equipment and public liability insurance.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET SICK?

In case of sudden illness or an emergency, I would do my utmost to find a replacement photographer for you. I am part of a network of professional New Zealand based photographers and we provide emergency cover for each other. This would be absolute worst case scenario and I have so far been able to attend every I have booked.

HOW AND WHEN TO BOOK?

If you are getting married on a weekend between November and April, I suggest you book at least 12 months in advance, as I tend to get booked up quickly during these busy months. Otherwise, as soon as possible really. Once you sent in your booking form and paid your deposit, your date is all yours.

CAN WE HAVE A CHAT BEFORE WE BOOK?

Absolutely! I would love to meet with you and hear more about your plans for the big day. I'm happy to show you a bit more of my work too, and we can both make sure that we're a good fit for each other.
